Small details that give you freedom to breathe

For children Mobile hospice for children Lviv Clinical Center of Pediatric Medicine. Western Ukrainian Specialized Center, which our foundation takes care of, the ability to breathe freely is not just a basic need, it is the absence of fear and pain. When the body cannot clear the respiratory tract on its own, aspiration catheters come to the rescue.
But for a child, “any” catheter is not suitable. We choose only those products that meet the criteria of comfort and safety of the Polish company “Galmed”: Softness and atraumaticity. A high-quality catheter is made of thermoplastic medical PVC. It becomes softer under the influence of body temperature, which allows it to delicately pass through the tissues without scratching the delicate mucous membrane of the child.
Perfectly smooth side holes. In high-quality catheters, the edges of the holes at the tip are rounded and polished. This minimizes the risk of “sucking” to the walls of the trachea and damaging them.
The correct size (Ch 6 – Ch 10). For children, we use the thinnest models with color coding so that the procedure is as physiological as possible.
*** Timely sanitation with high-quality consumables is the prevention of pneumonia and a peaceful sleep for our wards.
Thanks to the funds raised during the charity concert "Oh, Life!" and the charity campaign "Good Coins", we were able to order and purchase 9,500 catheters worth 320,000 UAH!
